BoatU.S. Foundation awards grants

The BoatU.S. Foundation awarded nearly $50,000 for its 2009 Clean Water and Boating Safety grants to 19 local non-profit groups.

This year's Clean Water Grant projects covered a wide range of environmental topics, while the Boating Safety Grants focused on efforts aimed at reducing alcohol-related fatalities.

In the last 20 years, the foundation has awarded more than $1.1 million to local boating and environmental organizations.
