A call for entries was issued for the 2010 BoatU.S. Foundation Environmental Leadership Award, which honors people, organizations or businesses that have helped to show boaters how to take better care of their local waterway.

The winner will receive $1,000 to help continue the environmental effort.

"Any group, organization, company, marina or individual who has worked hard to make a difference is eligible for the award," said Susan Shingledecker, director of environmental programs for the BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water, in a statement.

The award, in its fourth year, was created to complement the efforts of the BoatU.S. Foundation.
