BoatUS is celebrating its 50th anniversary with local celebrations, including a May 7 event in Port Townsend, Wash.

The “member appreciation event” will be held at the conclusion of the Port Townsend Opening Day Parade at the Northwest Maritime Center.

BoatUS president Margaret Bonds Podlich will host the informal event, which will include a drawing for a Star Clippers cruise.

“It’s a way to gather and thank our BoatUS members for their continued support over the years, and to get with other boaters to talk boating,” Podlich said in a statement.
