Brownell Boat Stands, of Mattapoisett, Mass., was sold to new owners who plan to expand the company’s distribution network to other parts of the world, including Australia and South America.

The stand manufacturer, founded 50 years ago by the Brownell family, was sold to Peter T. Kavanaugh and Cathy Mayall. The newly formed Kavanaugh-Brownell Boat Stands LLC will retain use of the Brownell Boat Stands name.

“Linda and David ‘Fred’ Brownell have done a great job of growing the business and marketing this product in the U.S., Canada and Scandinavia,” Mayall said in a statement. “Brownell Boat Stands has a great reputation in the industry, and we look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence in manufacturing started by the Brownell family.”
