BWI seeks entries for 25th annual writing contest

Boating Writers International’s annual writing contest is in its 25th year and now has 17 categories offering $17,000 in prizes.

Four categories were recently added or updated: Boating Videos; Boating Photography; Environmental Awareness and Education; and Gear, Electronics and Product Tests.

Entries in all categories except boating videos are welcome from digital-only or print sources. Check out the brochure details here or link to the electronic entry form here.

The deadline for entries is Dec. 31.

BWI said the contest recognizes the best marine writing in the world and presents cash awards to first- ($500), second- ($300) and third-place ($200) scorers.

Certificates of merit are presented to every writer who scores within 95 percent of third-place winners in each category.

The awards will be presented during BWI’s annual meeting in February at the Miami International Boat Show.
