TowBoatUS Opens Location on Lake Travis

Capt. Skylar Smith, one of the company’s youngest operators, opened the central Texas location at West Beach Marina.

BoatUS yesterday announced that Capt. Skylar Smith opened a TowBoatUS operation on Lake Travis in central Texas. Smith’s business will provide towing, soft ungrounding, jumpstarts and fuel drop-off services, with two boats operating out of West Beach Marina.

“I’m excited to own my own business helping folks on the water with the unexpected,” Smith said in a statement. “Battery jumps, freeing fouled tow lines and providing soft ungroundings are some of the more common reasons boaters call us for assistance. Of course, no one plans on having a breakdown, but it happens, and we’re there to get you home.”

BoatUS said that at 27, Houston native Smith is among the youngest TowBoatUS operators in a network of more than 300 locations that responded to 80,000-plus requests for assistance last year.
