Changing Places

Reed Austin was appointed to the new position of vice president of sales and marketing at J&J Marine, a Massachusetts-based marine service yard.


Austin comes to J&J Marine after five years as director of sales and marketing at

Hunt Yachts. He also spent 15 years in sales and sales management at Salt Water Sportsman magazine and 10 years in early-stage high-tech companies.

He has extensive boating and sportfishing experience worldwide.

"The recent growth of our company demanded that we bring on board a seasoned marine industry professional who could take our sales and marketing operations to the next level, without losing touch with the very special market that we serve," said Steve Anderson, president of J&J Marine, and Jeff Bothelo, vice president/CFO/service manager, in a statement.

USA Water Ski named Bob Crowley as the organization's new executive director.

Crowley brings more than 20 years of executive management experience to the national governing body of organized water skiing. He will begin his new position on June 1 and work part-time until July 1.

"We are excited that Bob Crowley has signed on to help take our organization to the next level in its development," said Jim Grew, president of USA Water Ski, in a statement. "His success in both sponsor and membership development is most welcome. With an experienced and dedicated staff teaming up with him, we can look forward to renewed energy and focus."

Most recently, Crowley served as executive director of US Speedskating from 2006 through the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Crowley also has served as figure skating director and head coach of the Bozeman Figure Skating Club in Bozeman, Mont.; 11 years as associate executive director of U.S. Figure Skating and executive director of the Indiana/World Skating Academy.

USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States.

Seminole Marine Group hired Dave Brown to represent its Sailfish Boat brand in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Brown comes to the company from Triton Boats, where he served as Southeast regional sales manager and director of saltwater products He has also worked for other saltwater brands, such as Hydra-Sports and Wellcraft.

He has been in this industry for more than 30 years, starting in 1980 when he owned a marina in Noank, Conn.
