Grand Banks Northwest broker Harry Walp was elected to the board of the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association.

Walp will help manage the general affairs of the organization, including the January and September boat shows, facilitate youth and education programs and collaborate on boating safety initiatives.

“I felt a need to give back to the industry that has allowed me to achieve so many of my professional goals,” Walp said in a statement. “I look forward to bringing to the board a can-do attitude, an enduring desire to see our industry prosper and a business skill set that includes professionalism, integrity, focus and organization.”

Walp begins his three-year commitment to the board in January.

Weems & Plath promoted Patricia Darnell to Eastern territory manager after one year as Northeastern territory manager.

She will be responsible for the company’s largest sales territory, which includes the eastern United States, eastern Canada and the Caribbean.

Darnell has been with Weems & Plath for more than 20 years, beginning her career in the accounting department.

“It is with pleasure that we promote Patricia. She has proven that she has both the skill and desire to handle this broad territory. I have full confidence she will continue to be a success in this expanded role,” company president Peter Trogdon said in a statement.

Weems & Plath is a manufacturer of navigation tools and nautical instruments.
