Changing Places

Gary Smith was named vice president of sales and marketing for SkipperLiner.

He will be responsible for the design and implementation of sales strategies and marketing programs that will help the company achieve goals for reconnecting with past customers, reaching new ones and expanding its reach beyond the United States.

Smith has spent most of his career in the marine industry. Prior to joining the SkipperLiner team, he held senior-level roles at 3M Co., Springfield Marine Group and Garelick Manufacturing.

He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Pepperdine University and a member of the NMMA-AMD board of directors.

HydroComp, of Durham, N.H., announced the addition of Ian Mutnick as a special projects consultant.

He will be providing part-time assistance to HydroComp in business development and the technical management of focused client projects.

Mutnick brings a range of business and technical expertise, including conducting resistance and propulsion experiments at NavSea Carderock in its towing basins and sea trials and supporting the Office of Naval Research with transition and commercialization of marine technologies.

"We are pleased to add Ian to our staff, as he brings a skill set that nicely complements our brand and our business objectives. In particular, we see Ian helping to advance our position as a designer of highly efficient small thrusters for ROVs, AUVs and other submersibles,” managing director Jill Aaron said in a statement.
