Red Oak Marketing of Lake Forest, Ill., named Jeff Scherer vice president of strategic development.

Scherer has set up e-business programs for organizations such as AutoNation, MarineMax and Tracker Marine Group. He also has implemented and launched award-winning Web sites with MarineMax and Tracker Marine.  

"He's a proven success at identifying, understanding and satisfying the needs and goals of multiple departments within a business,” CEO John Trkla said in a statement. “Jeff also understands how to help organizations maximize and leverage their existing infrastructures to expand."

Scherer was a member of the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s first Dealer Certification Task Force Committee. He currently is part of NMMA's Grow Boating Web site committee and has been involved with the MATES Marine Industry Standards Committee. He also headed up a direct sales program to allow consumers to purchase boats online.
