Coast Guard Foundation Names Chairman

The Coast Guard Foundation elected Thomas A. Allegretti as board chairman. Allegretti has been a foundation board member for 15 years and has served on its executive and audit committees. Last year, he spearheaded its Covid-19 management plan.

Allegretti’s career includes more than 35 years with American Waterways Operators, the trade association that covers the U.S. tugboat, towboat and barge industry. He was president and CEO of the group for 26 years.

Allegretti also has sat on the boards of the American Maritime Partnership and the National Waterways Foundation.

“I feel truly fortunate to be able to support a noble cause in which I deeply believe, by serving as chairman of the Coast Guard Foundation,” Allegretti said in a statement. “I’m honored to accept this role because of the important work the foundation does and the significant positive impacts it has on Coast Guard men and women and their families.”
