MarineMax expanded its presence with Meridian Yachts, a successful brand already offered in many MarineMax stores. Specifically, MarineMax now offers the line in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and South Carolina.

"We were one of the key drivers that led to the creation of the Meridian Yachts brand. We have seen the brand grow into a major force in the segments that it operates, taking substantial market share from brands with a much longer heritage,” said William H. McGill, Jr., president and CEO of MarineMax, in a statement.

Headquartered in Clearwater, Fla., MarineMax is the nation's largest recreational boat and yacht retailer. It currently operates 88 retail locations around the country.

Canadian-based Clifts Marine Sales and Angus Yachts of Toronto are joining forces.

Angus & Clift’s Pre-owned Yachts is based in Port Credit and will be augmented by regional brokers in seven of Ontario’s popular boating centers: Kingston, Orillia, Lefroy Harbour, Midland, Bronte, St.Catharines, and Sarnia.

The family of the late David de Eyre, former president and owner of Clifts, is excited to enter into this merger with Angus that will ensure David’s vision is fulfilled, the company said in a statement.

“Dave built on the initial success of George Clift to create the largest yacht brokerage in Canada over the past 16 years,” said Al Patterson, president of Angus Yachts. “Our goal is to preserve Dave’s legacy — to build on his community values and his commitment to enhancing broker professionalism and the yacht buying experience.”

Angus & Clift’s Pre-owned Yachts will operate as a division within Angus Yachts of Toronto Ltd. The segregation of the sales teams within Angus Yachts helps to maintain a sharp focus on each of its distinct product groups — new sail, new power, pre-owned boats and SailTime.
