WinMarine Ventures, exclusive importers of Nord Star Boats to North America, named Wilde Yacht Sales of Essex, Conn., as dealers for the New England region.

Nord Star boats are built by the Linex Boat Company of Kalvia, Finland, and were first introduced by WinMarine at the 2008 Newport, R.I., and Norwalk, Conn., boat shows. The boats are produced in 24-, 26-, 28-, 31- and 40-foot versions.

Wilde Yacht Sales, headed by Ben Wilde, is marketing Nord Star for the New England market along with the Nordic Tugs line.

“Ben’s track record in the marine industry along with his expert sales team with their knowledge and attention to the customer coincides with the Nord Star goals in North America,” said John Uljens, president of Nord Star USA, in a statement.

Fiat Powertrain Technologies of North America expanded Louisiana-based distributor Laborde Products’ territory.

Laborde’s territory now includes Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, in addition to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee. Laborde supplies FPT marine, power generation and industrial engines.

“Laborde Products is a valued partner with a thorough understanding of FPT engines,” said Ted Bregar, general manager of FPT North America, in a statement.

FPT also announced an agreement with Costa Mesa-based Boatswain’s Locker for the distribution and service of FPT commercial diesel marine engines and parts in California, Hawaii, and Western Mexico.

“Boatswain’s Locker is well-respected for their technical expertise and superb customer support in the marine industry,” said Bregar.

Centek Industries, a Thomasville, Ga.-based manufacturer of fiberglass marine wet exhaust mufflers and systems, appointed the Soundguard Division of Pyrotek to distribute the company’s products in the Pacific Rim.

Headquartered in New South Wales, Australia, with offices in New Zealand, Dubai, Taiwan and China, the Pyrotek Soundguard division has been providing noise control solutions to boatbuilders and boatyards since 1972.

“Pyrotek is highly regarded for its technical expertise,” said Bill Hodges, Centek president, in a statement. “This expertise allows us to expand our collaboration with boat builders in these important, growing markets.”

Schuman Nautic Air of Stevensville, Md., named Vortech Systems as the exclusive distributor of its air-purification systems for Florida.

Vortech Systems provides sterilization, decontamination, purification and dehumidification services and products for boats, ocean liners and private residences. Vortech assumes responsibility for representing Nautic Air and establishing a dealer network throughout the state of Florida.

“Nautic Air complements our Dri-Mist system perfectly,” said David Johnson, managing member of Vortech Systems, in a statement. “Once we eliminate the mold and mildew with the Dri-Mist, the Nautic Air system maintains the clean air quality for a more lasting, long-term effect.”

The Nautic Air system uses a proprietary combination of ultraviolet light and titanium dioxide to produce hydroxyl radicals, which reduce mold, bacteria, viruses and other volatile organic compounds in the air. The system emits no ozone or other environmentally harmful by-products, according to the company.

Walker Bay Boats signed six new international distributors: Avar Yachts, Bellion, Active Sports, Boot Akkrum, Mercury Marine Latin America and ZOIS.  

“They are all reputable companies that will spread the availability of our increasing product line throughout the world,” said Chris Carroll, vice president of sales for Walker Bay Boats, in a statement.

Avar Yachts in Czechoslovakia and Bellion in France will be carrying the Original dinghy line. ZOIS of Greece and Boot Akkrum of Germany and the Netherlands will both carrying the Genesis and Generation RIB line. Active Watersports of Australia will now carry the Airis inflatable kayaks, AirDock and Original line, and Mercury Marine of Latin America is carrying the entire line of Walker Bay products.
