Discover Boating announced today that it will join country artist Jake Owen for his nationwide 2014 “Days of Gold” tour as presenting sponsor to inspire his fans to discover life on the water.
A longtime boater, Owen will share stories about how boating creates unique connections, freedom and fun in his life and music, unlike anything he has experienced on land. His boating stories will be featured throughout his eight-month tour and as part of Discover Boating’s new 2014 “Stories of Discovery” campaign.
Launching later this month, the campaign shares real boaters’ inspiring stories of their life on the water through documentary-style videos. The videos, and other special insights from behind the scenes of these boaters’ lives, will be featured throughout the campaign across advertising, social media and public relations, helping to introduce more people to the benefits of boating.
“Jake Owen’s lifelong love for boating and being on the water is brought to life in a big way in his music, which attracts young country music fans across the country,” Discover Boating president Carl Blackwell said in a statement. “What’s more, we know that country music and our target audience go hand in hand, making joining the ‘Days of Gold’ tour a natural fit for Discover Boating.”
Beyond being a country music star, Owen is a husband, father, and active boater and angler who grew up in Florida exploring its waterways, Blackwell said. “He’s relatable to the American boater and potential boater. Not only does his music convey the fun of boating, but his tour setup even mimics the look of a boat dock along the water, creating a feeling of summer boating fun at each of his shows.”
Each of Owen’s shows, taking place in boating-centric markets nationwide from March through October, feature large video screens with footage of him boating, as well as special Discover Boating videos. The in-show video screens will also incorporate interactive social media elements that will encourage his fans to share their boating stories and join the “Stories of Discovery” fun on Discover Boating’s Facebook page and website.
To further share the boating lifestyle from coast to coast, Discover Boating will be featured in all “Days of Gold” tour elements, including signage, television, radio and online advertising, public relations and social media, as well as Owen’s tour trucks, which will cross the country throughout the tour.
“Growing up on the water, boating has always been a part of my life,” Owen said. “I can’t think of anything better than floating down the water, drinking a cold beverage and hanging with your friends. On this tour, I wanted everyone to feel that ‘by the river’ vibe, and having Discover Boating as part of the action every night is amazing.”
