Doyle Sails welcomes international sailor Tony Rey as a business partner and has opened a new office in Newport, R.I. Doyle Sails was founded by Robbie Doyle in 1982 and has 15 lofts throughout North America. Rey will work with Doyle and CEO Mike Sanderson to manage the company. He is a veteran of the America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race and the Olympics. “The North American market is changing fast, growing in new directions, with more yachts traveling the world than ever before,” said Robbie Doyle in a statement. “For us to have a strong presence in Newport, Rhode Island, is essential. Tony brings with him a wealth of contacts and experience and a drive to take the business to new levels and I look forward to working with him.”

Humphree USA adds personnel

Humphree USA has named Brett Marshall as director of technical sales and George Lewis as southeast regional sales manager. Sean Barrie, CEO of Humphree USA, said in a statement “the appointments will strengthen and expand the company’s sales and service capability for Humphree’s marine stabilization systems in the North American market.”

Marshall is responsible for developing relationships with new and existing customers and providing technical support for builders, dealers and users. He previously was business development manager for Mack Boring and vice president of sales and marketing for the Luhrs Marine Group. Prior to joining Humphree, Lewis was a naval architect at Sea Ray and was lead engineer on many of the boat manufacturer’s designs. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in ocean engineering from Virginia Tech and a certificate from the Landing School of Yacht Design.

Blue Guard Innovations names director of global sales

Marine industry veteran Alan Brown is the new director of global sales for Blue Guard Innovations. He is a former sales executive at Yanmar Marine International and Vetus. Brown will have oversight and direct sales responsibility for sales channels and the creation and expansion to worldwide markets. BGI has developed a range of smart sensors and switches that detect water, oil and fuel spills that will be introduced at IBEX. “I am thrilled that Alan has joined our team,” said BGI CEO Zdravko Divjak, in a statement. “He shares our values and our focus on innovation and vision for the future. He places the same strong emphasis as we do on the customer experience.”

Sea Hawk Paints appoints new sales rep

New Nautical Coatings Inc., has appointed Bill Wolf as technical sales representative for its domestic and international markets. He is based in Stuart, Fla., and will report to Tommy Craft, vice president of sales for Sea Hawk Paints. Wolf’s responsibilities include sales, technical support, customer training and developing new business. “As Sea Hawk continues to expand in the premium yacht coatings market, advanced sales technical support is critical to meeting our growth goals,” said Erik Norrie, CEO of Sea Hawk, in a statement. “Bill brings the perfect balance of experience and enthusiasm that is certain to ignite our expanding business among marine service professionals and boat builders alike.” Wolf previously managed regional sales and super yacht technical support for Pettit Paints. He is a certified NACE Coating Inspector.

TecNiq hires three staff members

TecNiq, a manufacturer of LED lighting for marine, RV, fleet, emergency response vehicles and heavy equipment, has hired three new people. Terri Thornton and Darryl Lanier are sales associates for the light duty trailer market and Kevin Shaffer is national sales manager. Shaffer was sales manager for the transportation technologies division at Intertek Testing Services. He holds a bachelor of arts in professional ethics from Western Michigan University. Thornton was previously an engineering manager at Kurtzon Lighting and Paramount Industries. Lanier was most recently a manager at Leaders Marine. “We’re excited to welcome Terri, Darryl and Kevin,” said Tom Bailey, TecNiq senior director of market development, in a statement. “They’ll add a dynamic, new dimension to our sales efforts.”
