FishTrack.com signs on as sponsor of billfish tournament

FishTrack.com recently announced a new partnership with the Club Nautico de San Juan International Billfish Tournament, one of the oldest, most prestigious marlin tournaments in the world, to provide tournament participants with the most accurate marine weather and sea surface temperature charts available.

As part of the partnership, Fishtrack.com also will publish daily catch reports during the tournament, social media posts and a full recap of the September event.

The International Billfish Tournament has long been known as an elite offshore event in the Caribbean. For more than 60 years it has catered to anglers from around the world, showcasing Puerto Rico’s world-class marlin fishery and hosting activities each night to coincide with the fishing.

“The boats and teams fishing the International Billfish Tournament make up the top crews in the Caribbean,” Fishtrack.com editor Charlie Levine said in a statement. “Through this partnership we will be able to provide accurate wind and swell forecasts, as well as sea surface temperature charts, right on the event’s website, www.sanjuaninternational.com. We’re excited to be a part of this world-class event.”

Fishtrack’s meteorologists also will prepare a detailed weather forecast leading up to the tournament. This forecast will be published on Fishtrack.com and Buoyweather.com and will be made available to the fleet of boats in the tournament.

“We want to provide all of our tournament participants with the most accurate weather information available,” Ricky Jaen, tournament director for the 61st annual International Billfish Tournament. “This partnership provides us with the type of information the crews in the tournament need to find fish.”

In addition to weather and SST information, Fishtrack is providing premium memberships for the winning team.

The 2014 tournament takes place Sept. 2-9.
