The Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament, now in its 51st year, will occur Saturday and will benefit the Marine Industry Cares Foundation.

The Marine Industries Association of South Florida owns the nonprofit fishing event; it is sponsored by Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins.

The tournament combines a commitment to preserving the seas, cash prizes, a mandate of the release of billfish and the responsible take of fun fish. Entry fee in the Family Fun division is $500, and it is $1,000 in the Big Boat Billfish division.
