The Marine Industries Association of South Florida will sponsor its 32nd annual Waterway Cleanup March 7.
Between 2,000 and 3,000 volunteers will gather at 36 cleanup sites in Broward County, from the City of Deerfield Beach in the north, to the City of Miramar in the south, and west to Plantation, Coral Springs and Everglades Holiday Park. Volunteers are needed to work along the shorelines and waterfront, as well as on the water.
Major sponsors include Broward County, Florida Inland Navigation District, Publix Super Markets, Coral Springs Improvement District, North Springs Improvement District, Advanced Mechanical Enterprises, Star brite, J.M. Family Enterprises, Myers Myers and Adams Advertising, FlexSol, National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation, Gold Coast Marine Distributors, South Florida Water Management District, Total Marine Solutions, Ward's Marine Electric, and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation.
Last year, about 2,000 volunteers collected more than 35 tons of trash from 300 miles of waterway in Broward County.
