FLW names walleye tour champion

Paul Meleen was crowned FLW Walleye Tour Angler of the Year for 2010, Evinrude and Ranger Boats announced.

Meleen received the award after a successful season in which he had 818 points in six qualifying events after fishing the required Eastern and Western divisions on the FLW Walleye Tour.

"We are extremely proud of Paul for winning this very prestigious award," said Steve Laham, vice president of sales, marketing and after-sales service for Evinrude. "He has worked hard to earn this position and adds another Angler of the Year title to our roster of eight wins since 2001."

Meleen also was recently named to the Evinrude E-Team ambassador program. E-Team members tour the U.S., sharing experiences and interacting with fans via the brand's new blog.

"Paul is a strong ambassador for Ranger and the sport of fishing as well," Ranger Boats president Randy Hopper said. "The benefits of that experience show up far beyond his days on the water. His fishing seminars are filled with great insights and information and his personal commitment and enthusiasm are contagious. It all works together to personify what the Ranger brand is about."

Meleen will have the opportunity to add the 2010 FLW Walleye Tour championship to his professional angling credit Sept. 22-25 on Leech Lake in Walker, Minn.
