Kenneth Warren Archibald, stepson of Huckins Yacht Corp. founder Frank Pembroke Huckins, passed away Sept. 28 in Jacksonville, Fla., at the age of 94.

Archibald returned to Jacksonville after World War II to work with his stepfather at Huckins Yacht Corp. Following Frank Huckins’ death in 1951, Archibald assumed ownership and operated the company until retiring in 1980.

During his retirement, he continued advising his daughter, Cindy Purcell, and son-in-law, Buddy Purcell, until 2007. Archibald also built mahogany steering wheels and teak flagstaffs for each new Huckins yacht.

Archibald is survived by his children, Patricia Abbott, Field Davidson Boatwright and Cindy Purcell; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The 80-year-old Huckins Yacht Corp. is based in Jacksonville and is recognized as one of the oldest continuously family-owned boatbuilders in the United States.
