The Hanse 385 won the small-boats group in the Phuket Kings Cup, considered the biggest regatta in Asia.
Australian owner Tony Cittadini did not want to do without the bimini, which is practically vital in the tropics, but still won the race as the smallest boat in the group, Hanse said in a statement.
After the victory, Cittadini and his brother, who sailed with him, continued his holiday on board his yacht after the race.
King Bhumibol created the Phuket Kings Cup in 1987 by to mark his 60th birthday, and it remains the biggest sailing event in Asia. Every year at the start of December, sailors from all over the world meet on Thailand's biggest island to take part in the regatta.
