Hawie Manufacturing head dies

Robert Hawie, president of The Hawie Manufacturing Company and So-Lo Marine, died Aug. 23. The Stratford, Conn., resident was 69.

Hawie was an original board member of the Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut and chairman and president of The Manufacturing Alliance of Southern Connecticut.

As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed decades in the field hunting and offshore fishing. He was a longtime supporter of the International Game Fish Association and the Recreational Fishing Alliance, having promoted, supported and practiced tag-and-release fishing and renewable fisheries management.

He was a lifelong member of The Milford (Conn.) Yacht Club.
