Holiday causes speed-zone confusion in Florida waterway

The marine radio at the Naples, Fla., city dock buzzed the day after Christmas with questions about whether slow-speed zones were in effect in Naples Bay.

Boaters wondered whether marine officers considered that Monday a holiday, when weekend and holiday speed zones apply.

"It was a bit of a mess out there," Frank Perrucci, president of the Marine Industries Association of Collier County, said Wednesday.
