The Boating Trades Association of Metropolitan Houston installed its first female president in the group’s 65-year history.

Marine Retailers Association of the Americas president Matt Gruhn named Debra Ingerman as president of the association on July 24.

Ingerman grew up in the recreational marine industry, getting her start working with her father, Harold Sharp, who was a leader in the industry through the 1970s to 1990s.

Sharp passed his knowledge to his daughter, who today manages Northshore Marine Supply, the Houston dealer for SeaArk and Go-Devil boats.

Ingerman has held several board positions for the BTAMH, leading up to this milestone achievement.

The rest of the recently installed board of directors includes:

• Gibbs Warley Jr., Gibbs Boats & Motors, vice president

• Scott Baumann, Baumann Marine Service, secretary

• Butch Jones, Premier Yamaha Boating Center, treasurer

• Directors: Kevin Chema, Rudy Kleimann, Rob Garner, Darryl Hurst, Cole Starr, Glenn Kirk and past president Black Jackson
