The International Marina & Boatyard Conference opens today at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center with a day-long small-craft harbor design conference, a field trip to marinas and boatyards and an evening reception.

Those events will be followed Thursday morning by Steve Donohue’s keynote address, “Get a New Story,” about how to get the real message about your marina or boatyard across to customers.

Conferees also will have the chance Thursday to hear and vote on the best ideas submitted for increasing marina and boatyard profits and talk with the Association of Marina Industries’ Wendy Larimer and Marina Dock Age’s Anna Townshend about results of the annual marina trends survey.

Breakout sessions include “Financing Your Marina Project”; “Permitting Under the Corps’ Expanded Consultation Process”; “Results of the Boat Hoist Survey”; “Design Aspects of Floating Platforms”; “Clean and Resilient Marinas”; “Integrating Marinas with Multi-use Recreational Facilities”; “Rules and Regulations for Marinas and Boatyards”; and “More on How to Get Your Own Story.”

More presentations and breakout sessions will follow on Friday.
