Thomas Douglass and Marcia Kull will be on a panel of judges for the second annual Soundings Trade Only Top 10 Most Innovative Marine Companies Awards. Douglass was former vice president of sales and marketing at SeaStar Solutions, and Kull was former president of Torqeedo and longtime vice president of marine sales at Volvo Penta.

The Top 10 Most Innovative Marine Companies Awards will acknowledge marine industry firms using innovation in different ways to advance their businesses and the marine industry. The awards are open to all types and sizes of marine companies around the world.

“Tom and Marcia, with their collective experience, bring extensive knowledge of the industry and are individuals who championed innovation in their sectors,” said Michael Verdon, editor in chief of Soundings Trade Only, in a statement. “They understand that it’s not just about what you do or make, but the journey, decisions, teams, processes, and the positive impacts that innovation has on the company and the industry.”

The awards panel will review company initiatives that include innovative materials, new manufacturing processes, fresh marketing approaches, workforce solutions, supply chain, export programs and others.

Other members of the judging panel include Bill Sisson, Editorial Director of the AIM Media Marine Group; Verdon, Eric Colby, Soundings Trade Only Senior Editor; and Michele Goldsmith, Publisher, Soundings Trade Only, who will serve as advisor to the panel.

Focusing on the period from September 1, 2018 through August 31, 2019, applications may be submitted until August 31, 2019 here.

Finalists and one overall winner will be announced at IBEX 2019, and a series of profiles about each company will appear in Soundings Trade Only’s November issue.
