Jerry's Marine Service was recently named the engine sales specialist for Donovan Marine and its Marine Power line of inboards in a new strategic alliance.

The agreement is expected to increase sales for Jerry's Marine and provide customers with a knowledgeable resource in selecting the right engine for their needs, according to Jon Lewis, president of Jerry's Marine.

"Customers will call us for the verification process to make sure we're sending them the right engine," he says.

Donovan Marine is a wholesale distributor of marine accessories. The company is located in the New Orleans area and has 14 regional offices throughout the eastern United States. There's also an international division in the company's Fort Lauderdale office.

"We selected Jerry's Marine because of their expertise in sales and service of engines and parts, which is something we were not very good at," says Bob Sanders, vice president of Donovan Marine. "We felt they could do a much better job. It's a niche market that does require a certain amount of expertise."

Donovan Marine purchased Marine Power about 15 years ago and began selling engines to the wholesale market. Jerry's Marine Service, a wholesale distributor of engines, transmissions and related parts, has been selling Marine Power engines for 20 years. Jerry's is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, with satellite locations in Charleston, S.C., and Lakewood, N.J.

Under the new agreement, Jerry's Marine will serve as the engine sales specialist for all customers in the eastern U.S. served by each company. "Over the years, we have enjoyed a great track record with the Marine Power products, and we are extremely confident that this new alliance will serve both companies very well in the future," says Lewis.

"Donovan's is very excited that Jerry's will be marketing our Marine Power engine line, and we are looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the Jerry's team," says Sanders. "This is a very progressive step for both companies in our ongoing efforts to support all of our customers with knowledge, the right products and superior service."

Donovan Marine will continue to stock Marine Power engines at its various locations to ensure expedited delivery and to help keep freight charges low and, therefore, pricing competitive.
