Sail magazine announced its Best Boats Awards for 2011 in the magazine's December issue.

The magazine's judges examined the nominees on the docks at the Newport and Annapolis boat shows and sailed many of the finalists.

"Every year, builders raise the bar in terms of innovation and build quality," Sail editor Peter Nielsen said. "This made for some serious deliberation among the judges and means better deals for new-boat buyers."
