Magazine names top industry products

Hundreds of products, including boats, software and accessories, are introduced and improved every year in the industry.

This year, in what will be an annual program, Boating Industry magazine said it selected 40 of them as the Top Products.

“As the industry continues its recovery, it’s clear that the spirit of innovation continues,” editor-in-chief Jonathan Sweet said in a statement. “We were thrilled with the submissions we received this year and had to make some tough decisions for the list.”

Products were chosen on the basis of many factors, including innovation, impact on the industry and how they advanced their category or created a new category. All of the products on the list were introduced or significantly updated since Jan. 1, 2013.

Special emphasis was placed on how the product affects those in the business of boating.

“All of the products selected were chosen with the industry in mind, from software or apps that make it easier for a dealer to run his business to boats that offer an opportunity to reach a new audience,” Sweet said.
