Marina Recreation Association conference opens Tuesday


Conservationist and philanthropist Julie Packard will give the keynote address at the Marina Recreation Association’s 43rd annual educational conference and trade show.

The three-day event starts Tuesday and continues through Thursday in Monterey, Calif.

Packard, the youngest daughter of the late Silicon Valley pioneer David Packard, is executive director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Packard also sits on the board of the David and Lucille Packard Foundation, which gave away nearly $300 million in grants last year.

Packard will speak on Wednesday from 9:15 to 9:55 a.m.
