Marine Marketers of America expands awards program

Marine Marketers of America announced plans for its second annual Marine Marketers national awards program, designed to recognize outstanding performance in the marine marketing field.

"In this, our second year, we have enhanced our categories of entry and anticipate a strong response from our industry's marketers," committee chair and MMA board member Sally Helme said in a statement. "We are continuing to build a solid foundation for this program, with the goal to continue expanding the program in the ensuing years."

The 2009 program includes eight categories of entry including National Magazine Ads, National Magazine Ads/Series, Web Advertising (banners), Product Literature and Press Kits along with three all-new categories including Newsletters, E-mail Promotion/Blasts and Marketing Innovation.

The deadline for submission is Oct. 2. Winners will be announced at a luncheon Oct. 29 during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Sales stagnate in March

Overall boat sales in March were slightly lower compared to last year and year-over-year growth was down by just over 1 percent, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., data that was gathered for 30 states.
