The Michigan Boating Industries Association is making an extra push to encourage boaters to drop a line this year during National Fishing and Boating Week.

The event, which falls during the first week of June every year, also coincides with Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend on June 9-10.

National Fishing and Boating Week will be held June 2-10. Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend waives all license fees so residents and visitors are able to fish for all species in the inland and Great Lakes waters, the MBIA said.

“National Fishing and Boating Week is an ample time to build memories and a passion similar to ours at MBIA, which is promoting and protecting the boating industry,” MBIA president John Ropp said in a statement.
