Mississippi county turns down boat tours

Supervisors in Mississippi's Jackson County sided with homeowners in St. Martin's Windsor Porte subdivision on Monday by voting not to grant special permission for a boat-touring business to locate on an inlet off Fort Bayou.

The front of the business would have been on a busy main road, but the back would have faced a residential road.

Residents told supervisors they would have no protection from the business, which proposed to locate across a small bayou from them, booking charterboats, renting canoes and kayaks at the docks and selling bait and concessions from a temporary building.
