New owners for TowBoatU.S. location in S.C.

TowBoatU.S. on Lake Keowee, S.C., is now owned and operated by two brothers, Benny and Woody Owens, and their friend, Todd Campbell.

The trio also owns TowBoatU.S. Lake Russell and TowBoatU.S. Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. Their experience also includes operating fishing boats offshore out of Charleston, S.C., trips to the Bahamas out of Miami and running boats on upstate lakes for more than 30 years.

Woody Owens has experience in engineering and technical support. Benny Owens has been in law enforcement for 21 years, including work in marine patrol and boating safety. Both are licensed Coast Guard captains authorized to tow disabled boats.

Campbell, an owner/operator of a crane business, is a former volunteer firefighter and has worked in search and rescue.

The company's towboats are staffed by professional Coast Guard-licensed captains approved to operate on Lake Keowee.


Maine Boatbuilders Show opens tomorrow

In its second year in a new location, the Maine Boatbuilders Show opens tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Portland Sports Complex. Sail and powerboats, plus engines and accessories will all be on display.
