Two Sea Tow franchises on the East Coast are under new ownership.

Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale in Florida is now owned by Capt. Vinny Focaracci, and Sea Tow Montauk in Long Island, N.Y., is now owned by Capt. John Kanavy.

Focaracci is a Fort Lauderdale native and grew up in nearby Pompano Beach, and his first boat was a 19-foot Parker. He earned his 100-ton captain’s license at age 19.

“We are excited to have Capt. Vinny Focaracci take over the ownership of our very important Sea Tow operation in Fort Lauderdale, which serves one of the country’s most active year-round boating hubs for vessels ranging from the smallest jon boats to the largest superyachts,” Sea Tow CEO Capt. Joseph Frohnhoefer III said in a statement. “We know Capt. Vinny and his team of Sea Tow Captains, marketing team and dispatchers will continue to provide the superior service and expertise that boaters are accustomed to receiving from Sea Tow.”

Capt. Kanavy lives year-round in Montauk with his wife and young son. Prior to taking over operation of Sea Tow Montauk, which serves the waters surrounding Montauk and Three Mile Harbor, the location was corporately owned by Sea Tow Services International, Inc.

“I was referred to Sea Tow by a personal friend of [the late Sea Tow Founder] Capt. Joe,” Capt. Kanavy said in a statement.

He is keeping on the same team of Sea Tow Montauk Captains, who are well-known in the area.
