New York considering boat tax

New York Gov. David A. Paterson wants to raise taxes on boats and other luxury items in order to close the state’s budget deficit.

Paterson said his plan is meant to fill a budget gap totaling $15 billion for the rest of the current fiscal year, which ends March 31, and the following year, according to a report in The New York Times.
