Because of worsening economic conditions, the National Marine Bankers Association is cancelling its annual Marine Lending Workshop and will next hold the event in December 2009 in Fort Lauderdale.

The workshop had been scheduled for Dec. 7-9 in Fort Lauderdale.

“Given existing market conditions and the economic hardships our industry continues to endure, NMBA decided it was best to reschedule the 2008 lending workshop until the following year,” said James A. Coburn, NMBA president.

“This postponement not only gives the industry additional time to recover from prevailing economic uncertainty but also puts marine lenders and service providers in a better position to send their employees to this can’t-miss educational and networking event,” he added.

NMBA’s Marine Lending Workshop is aimed at improving the skills of those involved in the marine lending industry, as well as introducing the specialized nature of lending, marketing and collection techniques to individuals new to the industry. Participants typically include banks, service companies, maritime law firms, recovery agencies, insurance companies, and yacht dealerships.
