NMMA encourages members to apply to fisheries committee

Nominations are being sought for appointment by the Secretary of Commerce to fill vacancies on the Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee beginning in the fall.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is encouraging members to apply so the marine industry’s interests are represented, since they are affected by National Marine Fisheries Service actions in managing marine resources.

The Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee is the only federal advisory committee with the responsibility to advise the Secretary of Commerce on all matters concerning living marine resources that are the responsibility of the Department of Commerce.

The committee makes recommendations to the secretary to assist in the development and implementation of Departmental regulations, policies and programs critical to the mission and goals of the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Contact Nicole Vasilaros at nvasilaros@nmma.org or Jeff Gabriel at jgabriel@nmma.org for more information. Nominations are due by July 7.
