Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, will be the keynote speaker Oct. 2 at the National Marine Electronics Association Conference & Expo banquet at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

The Saturday night banquet highlights a week of technical meetings, seminars and social events that begins Sept. 26.

"We're delighted that Thom has agreed to be the featured speaker at our annual banquet," said David Hayden, president and executive director of the NMEA, in a statement. "Not only is he a very active and important leader in the marine industry, his participation at the NMEA event is a practical demonstration of the closer working relationship between NMMA and NMEA that will benefit both the industry and our customers in the months and years ahead."

Since taking the helm of the NMMA in 1999, Dammrich has increased the association's membership by about 30 percent. Today, the NMMA represents more than 1,600 members, which produce 80 percent of the recreational boating products currently sold in North America.
