U.S. outboard engine wholesale shipments were up 6.5 percent in 2016, with gains led by 4-strokes and higher-powered engines.

That’s according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, which surveyed wholesale shipments for its control group of manufacturers, who represent 95 percent of the market.

Corresponding dollars were up 9.2 percent for the year, the NMMA said.
