Traditional powerboat retail unit sales were up 5.9 percent for the 12 months through February 2017 and wholesale shipments rose 3.6 percent.

That’s according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, which released its Recreational Boating Industry 2017 Q1 Data Dashboard today.

The dashboard features insights that include boat market statistics, economic indicators such as home price and boat sales trends, wholesale forecasting, small business sentiment and the economic health of major export partners.

Sales of boats powered by outboards, inboards and jet propulsion were all up, with only sterndrive-powered boats continuing to edge down.

The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index decreased slightly in April, to 120.3, down from 124.9 in March, but remained strong.

Optimism among small businesses also fell slightly in March. The NFIB Index of Small Business Optimism was at 104.7, down from 105.3 in February; however, March marked the fourth consecutive month with a reading near 105.
