The National Marine Representatives Association recently awarded one of two scholarships the group gives to students pursuing careers in the industry.

Noah Luff, of Ventura, Calif., is receiving a $500 scholarship. Keith LaMarr and Chris Martorana of Macaroni Marketing made the presentation.

This fall, Luff will attend the California Maritime Academy and study marine transportation. Growing up in a coastal town, he has also served as an ocean lifeguard and plans to become an active member of the maritime industry once he graduates in 2018.

“I have always been fascinated by boats and the open ocean and am very interested in the workings of world trade," Luff said in a statement. "I'm excited for the opportunity to participate in and learn about the dynamic marine industry in any way."
