Recreational red snapper fishing will be allowed in South Atlantic federal waters Dec. 8-10 after data estimates showed the catch limit had not been reached.
Red snapper season was open to recreational anglers for six days in November.
As of Nov. 16, estimates of the recreational harvest indicated that the catch limit had not been reached, likely because of bad weather, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Projections show that an additional three-day recreational opening would not result in a harvest that exceeds the 2017 limit, NOAA said.
During the reopening the recreational bag limit for red snapper is one fish per person per day with no minimum size limit.
