The combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces in November was the highest in the 134-year period of record, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The combined temperature, at 56.6 degrees F, was 1.4 degrees higher than the previous record of 55.2 degrees, set in 2004, NOAA reported.

The global land surface temperature was 45.17 degrees, the second-highest November on record behind 2010.

Most of the world's land areas experienced higher-than-average monthly temperatures, including much of Eurasia, coastal Africa, Central America and central South America.

Much of southern Russia, northwest Kazakhstan, south India and southern Madagascar were record-warm. Meanwhile, northern Australia, parts of North America, southwest Greenland and parts of the Southern Ocean near South America were cooler than average.

No regions of the globe were record-cold.
