Software manufacturer Northport Systems announced that its Fugawi X-Traverse online map collection now supports Navionics marine charts for use with Fugawi Marine ENC and Geonav MapMaster software for Windows PC, as well as MacENC software for Apple Mac OS X.

With this new enhancement, PC users can, for the first time, download Navionics maps directly from the Internet to their computer hard drive, eliminating the need to purchase a Navionics CompactFlash or Secure Digital chartcard.

With an enabled X-Traverse account and subscription, boaters can choose, purchase and download Navionics worldwide Gold marine, HotMaps Premium North American fishing and Fish'N'Chip cartography, as well as other supported quality cartography.

"Similar to the functionality of iTunes for music, X-Traverse is changing the way people purchase cartography for use with their computers and mobile devices," said Robin Martel, president of Northport Systems, in a statement.
