Northrop & Johnson said it named John Philip Cichanowicz as charter retail director for North America.

The company said he will be based in its Fort Lauderdale office. Cichanowicz comes to Northrop & Johnson with almost 30 years of yachting industry expertise, which the company said began in 1988 when he moved to Florida to pursue his dream of cruising the world’s oceans.

Northrop & Johnson said he became a charter captain and logged thousands of nautical miles during 20 years at sea.

After captaining nearly 500 charters, Cichanowicz moved ashore to begin a new chapter as a charter broker with Burgess. He spent nine years there.
