Northwest Marine Trade Association awards $31,000 in grants

The Northwest Marine Trade Association’s Grow Boating Grant Program distributed $31,000 to 18 boating programs in the Pacific Northwest.

Since 2002, the program has awarded more than $2 million in grant funding to non-profit groups that help people get on the water or encourage boaters to use their vessels more often. The program is funded through a surcharge on exhibit space at the Seattle Boat Show.

For 2020, 22 applicants submitted grant requests totaling more than $156,000. A committee made up of NMTA members spent two months selecting recipients.

“This year was filled with many qualified grant recipients,” Mike Kirshenbaum, vice president of HO Sports and chairman of the NMTA’s Grow Boating committee, said in a statement. “After much discussion and consideration, we are pleased to have completed the grant process and are again able to support great events, projects and organizations. We continue our commitment to members and our goal of increasing all aspects of on-water activities in the beautiful and diverse waters of the Pacific Northwest.”

  • Sisters in Action Sports
  • Sound Experience
