Ohio boatbuilder has a new owner

TLC Yachts said it will continue to develop its sailboat and powerboat lines. The Legacy 36 is the first new model that the company is launching.

The Tartan management team, led by Rob Fuller and Tim Jackett, said it acquired the exclusive manufacturing, development, marketing and distribution rights for Tartan sailing yachts, Legacy motoryachts and Aspire composites in an agreement with S&S Financial Ventures.

TLC Yachts LLC, which is in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, said it will continue a 56-year lineage of boatbuilding in northeast Ohio. S&S Financial Ventures is owned by Steve and Stephanie Malbasa.

TLC Yachts said it will continue to develop its sailboat and powerboat lines. The Legacy 36 is the first new model that the company is launching.

TLC Yachts said it also will offer custom design and manufacturing, capitalizing on the design capabilities of its craftsmen and women.

The company said it will make Aspire carbon spars at its Fairport factory. Aspire supplies carbon masts and components for Tartan sailboats, as well as aftermarket and custom spars.
