The BoatU.S. Foundation is asking boaters to go online and vote for their favorite proposal in the Boating Grassroots Grants program.

Of the 17 proposals listed, those with the most votes by midnight June 13 will have their projects funded with a grant of as much as $4,000 each from the BoatU.S. Foundation Boating Grassroots Grants program.

Boaters can vote for their favorite projects once a day until the voting closes.

During the last 23 years, the foundation has awarded more than $1 million to organizations that have developed creative projects to promote safe and clean boating on local waterways.

"Literally each vote counts with our Grassroots Grants program," BoatU.S. Foundation program manager Alanna Keating said in a statement. "So forget the national politics for a moment and come to our Facebook page or website, where your vote will really make a difference to these local communities."
