Outdoor Channel will promote Discover Boating

The Outdoor Channel is working with the National Marine Manufacturers Association to promote the Discover Boating campaign with a $250,000 advertising grant and discounted ad rates for NMMA members.

The television network began the initiative at this week's Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail. For every ad purchased in 2009 by an NMMA member with a budget of $50,000 or more, Outdoor Channel will provide the member with a 100 percent match in free advertising. The network also will donate 10 percent of the value of the member's advertising purchase toward the Discover Boating advertising campaign.

"This is an innovative program designed to support the marine industry in this current economic climate," said Greg Harrigan, senior vice president of advertising sales for the Outdoor Channel, in a statement. "We offer NMMA and its members an ideal vehicle to reach their target audience at a discounted rate with the value-added bonus of raising awareness of the benefits of boating to support the industry as a whole."
